Fighting poverty through education.
We have supported the School of St Jude in Tanzania since its early days. It was founded in 2002 by Australian Gemma Sisia. It provides a 'free, high quality primary and secondary education to over 1800 of the poorest and brightest children in the region of Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa'.
The program is designed to help children be educated and escape poverty and ultimately support their families, their community and the whole of Tanzania.
At Woolooware High School we are currently sponsoring a young man who is now studying, very successfully at Year 10 level. His dream is to complete his education at St Jude's and then move into tertiary study. We will continue to sponsor him throughout this process. We are very proud of his achievements. He corresponds with our SRC continuously updating us on his progress.
Our ties continue to strengthen through student activities that raise money and by attending leadership seminars. Our school is open to visitors from St Jude's and many of our staff have visited our foster child there.
