The school of St Jude's

Fighting poverty through education.

We have supported the School of St Jude in Tanzania since its early days. It was founded in 2002 by Australian Gemma Sisia. It provides a 'free, high quality primary and secondary education to over 1800 of the poorest and brightest children in the region of Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa'.

The program is designed to help children be educated and escape poverty and ultimately support their families, their community and the whole of Tanzania.

At Woolooware High School we are currently sponsoring two students.
Adolfu is approaching the final years of his O-level studies. Since joining St Jude’s in 2023 he has shown improvements in speaking English and in his academic performance. Our support has meant that Adolfu has access to the necessary resources, such as well-equipped libraries, computer labs with internet, advanced study materials and experienced teachers.
Jenipha continues to thrive both in and out of the classroom. Alongside her love for netball, she has actively participated in various school events this term, showcasing her talents and enthusiasm.

We are very proud of both students' achievements. Regular correspondence with our SRC continuously updates us on their progress.

Our ties continue to strengthen through student activities that raise money and by attending leadership seminars. Our school is open to visitors from St Jude's and many of our staff have visited our foster child there.
