We aim to inspire students to strive for excellence across a range of design fields, offering an intellectual and practical approach to critical thinking and effective learning. Students create and exhibit a range of high quality food and nutritional knowledge, design and textile projects throughout the year to fulfil academic potential and enjoy real choices in selecting tertiary courses and careers.
Years 7 – 10 (Stages 4and 5)
Years 7 and 8 Technology (Mandatory)
This course provides an understanding of the design process enabling students to manage, interpret, shape and alter their environment to improve their quality of life in the home, work place and the broader community. Students complete four units over different context areas using a range of materials, tools and techniques. Our primary focus areas are food, textile and computing technologies.
Design and Technology
A design project (practical work) is the main focus for students and culminates into a designed solution (project) and documentation (folio). Focus areas studied at Woolooware High School are food, jewellery, interior furniture, fashion and graphical design.
Food Technology
Students undertake a range of practical experiences that occupy the majority of course time developing knowledge and understanding of skills in designing, producing and evaluating. These areas include food preparation and processing, nutrition and consumption, food in Australia, food equity, food product development, food selection and health, food service and catering, food for special needs and food trends.
Textiles Technology
Project work forms the basis of this course using a variety of materials. Areas studied include design, fashion, fabric performance, construction of textile articles and fabric embellishment. Students explore their creativity in the textile and design area.
Years 11 – 12 (Stage 6)
Community and Family Studies
